We at the Oregon Tea Party extend our deepest condolences to the families affected by yesterday’s tragedy at Reynolds High School. You are in our prayers. Our thoughts are also with the First Responders, who run towards danger when everyone else is heading towards safety. Thank you for courageously putting yourselves in harm’s way to protect the innocent. As long as there is evil in this world, men and women of courage must stand up against it.
Our nation was founded on the belief that the purpose of government is to secure our unalienable rights – including the rights to life and self-defense. This is why we are committed to preserving the right of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves and their loved ones, and why we commend those in Law Enforcement who have taken up the solemn duty of defending those who cannot defend themselves – the proper role of limited government.
In the days to come, as our nation continues to debate proposed solutions for ending these senseless acts of violence, let us remember the words of Benjamin Franklin: “Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” The surest way to protect the innocent is to preserve their right to defend themselves and those around them should they ever be threatened, and to support the appropriate function of limited government in the sphere of law and order.

Spot on. The sad and scary thing is no one is acting (on a regular basis) to make sure people know the real truth about our founding principles. We the people have disengaged our self from the process. We can see that has gotten us. The time for action is now. And pray it isn’t already to late
