Two weeks ago, Obama declared that if congress would not give him the legislation he wants in a timely manner, he would bypass them completely and unilaterally implement his agenda through executive orders and other unconstitutional abuses, saying “I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone.”
Now, White House officials have confirmed that Obama plans to abuse the powers of federal agencies and departments like the EPA to bypass congress and impose his agenda by executive fiat.
The Dictator-in-Chief isn’t interested in governing alongside the co-equal branches of government, including the people’s elected representatives. He wants to rule by decree, unchallenged, just like every tin-pot dictator of a banana republic.
The Republican response to these outrageous declarations has been…nothing (apart from Ted Cruz calling him “dangerous” and “lawless”). Who has the courage to stand up to him and hold him accountable?
In his first act of defiance since these announcements, Obama plans to unilaterally increase the minimum wage for federal workers from $7.25 to $10.10, with no deliberation, representation or vote. Nothing but an arrogant stroke of his pen.
Obama has no constitutional authority to make or change laws, but he is emboldened by a congress that refuses to hold him accountable for abusing his powers and unilaterally legislating from the Oval Office. If they don’t stop him, he will continue to impose his will on the citizenry in more bold and disastrous ways, just like an unchecked monarch.
He’s determine to destroy anybody who gets in his way, using the IRS and DOJ to intimidate, harass, and generally make his enemies’ lives a living hell. It’s a play straight out of Saul Alinsky‘s “Rules For Radicals”: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy.” Robert Spencer calls his behavior “Stalinist.”
But he’s only getting started, as his SOTU makes chillingly clear. 2014 is our last chance to put this administration in check. We need conservative majorities in both the House and Senate – and not more spineless RINO’s who surrender at the slightest resistance, but true conservatives who aren’t afraid to fight for liberty and the survival of our constitutional republic.
In Oregon there is a highly competitive primary race to determine which candidate can best replace the disastrous Jeff Merkley. Every liberty-loving Oregonian should be involved in the fight to unseat him and replace him with a Senator who will fight against Obama’s agenda.
